James B. Stake, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Stake spent more than 30 years at 3M, during which time he led a number of 3M's healthcare, commercial and industrial units ranging in size from $100 million to $4 billion in the US and abroad. Mr. Stake has a history of success in managing a variety of businesses from both high growth and mature products to struggling businesses.

James M. McNally, Ph.D., President and CEO 
Dr. McNally has a 25 year career in medical devices and diagnostics. Most notably, Dr. McNally was Vice President of Diagnostic Products at Quest Diagnostics, which included its Point-of-Care Division. Quest is the world's leading provider of diagnostic testing. Jim was responsible for all of Quest's FDA-regulated products business, accounting for $180 million in annual sales with a portfolio of companies that developed and marketed diagnostic products, including waived POC instruments and assays for physician use as well as moderate and high-complexity molecular and immunological products for use in hospitals and central laboratories. 

In addition to Quest, Dr. McNally served as CEO at Bio-Imaging Research, a quality certified ISO14385 engineering design firm for major manufacturers of diagnostic imaging equipment. He began his career at Picker International, and eventually led their MRI Advanced Technology group in launching a new image-guided surgery division. Dr. McNally has been awarded twelve patents in the fields of MRI, image-guided surgery, x-ray, CT, and food sterilization. 

David W. Deetz, Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Deetz founded two other medical device companies, one of which completed a successful IPO, and both of which were acquired by industry leaders and still operate today. His exceptional experience also includes founding a financial services software company, authoring 11 U.S. patents and raising approximately $100 million in private and public capital.

Dale A. Wahlstrom*
Mr. Wahlstom is a highly respected medical device executive and business leader, bringing Ativa the experience of a 24-year career at Medtronic, most recently as V.P. of CRDM Venture Programs. He was selected by the Governor of the State of Minnesota to serve as CEO of the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota, an organization dedicated to the advancement of bioscience industries in Minnesota.

Mark Bagnall

Mark Bagnall, currently COO of Naia Pharmaceuticals, has served as CEO, CFO and audit committee chair of several public and private biotech companies in his 25-year career. As president and CEO of GenturaDx, a Chinese/American molecular diagnostics company, he successfully managed the turnaround and sale of the company to Luminex in 2012.


Previously, Bagnall was CFO of Metabolex, a privately held pharmaceutical company, where he raised more than $200 million in equity and partnership funding. Bagnall also was CFO of Somatix, a gene therapy company, where he managed six public and private financings and three M&A transactions. 


Jiang Zhang

Mr. Zhang is the Managing Director of Ping An Ventures, the investment arm of the largest private insurance company in China. His main focus is on healthcare and cross-border investments. Before joining Ping An Ventures, Mr. Zhang was a consultant of McKinsey, specialized in providing strategic advice to healthcare and financial institutions. Mr. Zhang has deep domain knowledge in healthcare gained through to his experiences with Philips Healthcare Dutch, where he was responsible for healthcare product R&D and marketing. Mr. Zhang graduated from North China Electric Power University and obtained his MBA degree in INSEAD.
